*PAIR OF ELDERKIN & SON DBL BBL SHOTGUNS. Cal. 12 ga. SN 551698 & 551702. English made, both shotguns are identical with 25″ bbls, plain narrow ribs with single silver bead marked “1” & “2” in gold at the breech end of the bbls and on the opening lever. Both sets & bbls have been fitted with Briley thin-wall choke tubes. The bbls are marked “Elderkin & Son (Gunmakers) Ltd. / Spalding” on the right bbl and “MARQUIS MODEL” on the left bbl. The boxlock receivers are case colored and have the maker’s name on each side. They have ejectors and dbl triggers. The wood is fine English walnut with checkered splinter forearms and straight grips 14-3/4″ over checkered butts. Each has a gold oval initial plate on the bottom. Weight #1 – 6 lbs. 2.1 oz. Drop at the heel 2-1/8″, at the comb 1-1/4″. Weight #2 – 6 lbs. 2.1 oz. Drop at the heel 2″, at the comb 1-1/4″. CONDITION: #1 appears to have been fired, but very little. Bbls retain about 99% orig finish. Receiver retains about 97% orig brilliant case colors with some light flaking on the fences. Wood is sound with a few minor nicks on the stock and some small creases in the finish on the forearm, otherwise retains virtually all of its fine oil finish. #2 appears to be unfired, retaining virtually all of its brilliant orig finish to both metal and wood.
