MILLS 5¢ PERFECTION POKER MACHINE. A simple yet effective and popular gambling device manufactured from the turn of the century up until the 1920s or 1930s. Often this machine was on the counter of a bar or general store or another place of business; one would deposit a nickel in the slot and try to obtain a winning poker hand, which in turn would entitle him to free cigars. Regardless of whether the player won or lost, the owner of this device always made money…occasionally handing out a cigar that cost three or four cents in return for five cents. Handsomely encased in an oak cabinet with a wooden marquee and award card (replaced), seldom was mechanical failure ever incurred, and yet these machines were a real money-maker! SIZE: 11” x 9-1/2” x 16”. CONDITION: Overall condition is very good plus. Minor warpage to top wood surface. 1-8928 (1,300-1,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2009 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
