HIGH GRADE J.P. CLABROUGH & BROS. DAMASCUS DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 10 ga. SN 16813. Fine English top lever Damascus hammer dbl with 32-1/8″ laminated steel bbls, with smooth concave tapered rib, single bead and doll’s head extension with dbl lumps & extractors. The rib is marked with the maker’s name & address. The receiver has a 12 ga. size water table with heavy reinforcements on the sides and deep heavy fences with scalloped reinforcements around the firing pins. The receiver and lockplates are beautifully engraved with about 75% coverage fine English arabesque patterns. Both lockplates are engraved with two guinea fowl and the maker’s name. The rebounding hammers are engraved to match. It has nicely grained English walnut wood with full checkered splinter forearm and semi-pistol grip stock with steel grip cap, fluted comb, 14-1/2″ over a serrated horn buttplate. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbls retain 92-94% orig brown Damascus pattern. Receiver retains traces of case colors in the sheltered areas with the balance turned silver. Lockplates each retain about 80% muted case colors, strong in the sheltered areas, brighter on the right side. Trigger guard is a silver metal color. Wood is sound with a bruise and two or three small gouges on the left side of the butt, otherwise just minor handling & use marks. Buttplate has a few scattered bug holes. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bores with a few scattered spots of pitting. 4-53755 (2,200-3,200)
