W. W. GREENER HAMMER BALL AND SHOT GUN WITH CASE. SN 39360. Cal. 12ga. Top lever. Double triggers. Rebounding locks. 28″ steel bbls engraved “W.W.Greener. Haymarket London.”, “Sterling Steel,” and “Patent Treble Wedge Fast” on the nicely machine matted rib w/ 3 leaf folding express sights for 40, 60, and 80 yds, and bead front sight. Bbl flats have Birmingham nitro re-proofs for 2-1/2″ chambers, and 1-1/8 oz shot. Bottoms of bbls have Greener elephant logo and are stamped “Sterling Steel” and SN “39360.” Case hardened action has about 60% coverage of typical English rose and scroll engraving. Fences are nicely filed. Lock plates are engraved “W.W. Greener” in a rectangle w/ matching scroll. Low set hammers are nicely filed in typical Greener style. Trigger guard has matching bouquet and scroll engraving w/ “NO. 39,360″ on the grip. Nicely figured and streaked European walnut Prince of Wales grip buttstock measures 14-5/16″ over checkered horn butt plate, features a vacant silver oval, inset diamond shaped horn drop points and borderless 22 LPI checkering. Forend has Deeley release, horn tip, and nicely executed checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.737, right -.737. Bore restrictions: left -000, right -000. Wall thickness: left -.040, right -.039. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2”. Weight: 7 lbs 12oz. Leather case has initials “H.E.B.” embossed on lid. Interior is lined in dark red cloth w/ orig paper Greener label. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 99% of professional re-black. Bores are bright and shiny but w/ scattered pitting throughout. Action shows orig case color in protected areas, but is mostly silver gray. Trigger guard and top lever retain virtually all re-blue. Stocks show professional oil re-finish. Checkering has been nicely re-cut. Action is tight. Left bbl is very slightly off-face. Locks are crisp. The case has dark leather, w/ numerous rubs and abrasions showing wear and breaks at corners. Straps are well used, but intact. Replacement handle. Interior cloth is in good condition, as are the partitions. Label has a few rubs from contact w/ gun. 4-35644 MGM69 (3,000-5,000)
