MILLS CRICKET UPRIGHT SLOT MACHINE. Produced for many years, this gambling device created from the turn of the century through the mid-1920s, this large floor model “Jackson” machine was perhaps the precursor to the modern day nickel nudger/cascade machines. A player would deposit a nickel in the coin slot and try his best to maneuver his nickel through a series of pins down to a small pocket. If successful, he would crank a handle on the side, releasing a cascade of coins into the payout cup. A most successful machine with only minimal mechanical failure, these machines were a virtual goldmine for the operator. Seldom found, compared to the dial machines, these are a true collector’s treasure, as well as elusive and visually attractive. SIZE: 65″ h. CONDITION: Overall finish appears to be original, although enhanced with a clear coat. Wooden panel back door is not original to machine. Minor wood loss/chip to upper right hand corner, minor chip/loss to lower left capital. 1-8927 (30,000-35,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2009 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
