Correction: This item is NOT a Modern Firearm as indicated by one asterisk preceding the description. It is an Antique. Gun’s weight should read 6lbs 8.6 oz. Not 8 lbs 8.6 oz as stated in the catalog. *JOHN DICKSON AND SON ROUND ACTION GAME GUN. SN 4052. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 28″ Dovetailed steel bbls are engraved “John Dickson & Son. 21. Frederick Street. Edinburgh.” on concave game rib with third fastener extension. Bottoms of bbls are engraved with SN, stamped “Made in England”, and have provisional proofs. Bbl flats have 2001 London re-proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers at 850 bar and bore diameters of 18.5. Typical rounded bar trigger plate Dickson action features third fastener secured by extension of top lever, the pivot of which is nicely filed with tapered beads, as part of the decoration of the fences. Water table is stamped with proofs, SN, and “J.D & S Patent”, with use no. “171” in oval. Action also has automatic safety with “SAFE” engraved on inlaid gold rectangle, and gold tipped cocking indicators. Action has nearly complete coverage of very well executed tight English scroll. “John Dickson & Son Patent” is in banners on either side of action. Trigger guard is scroll engraved, with SN on tang. Slightly figured walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/4″ over leather covered pad. 16 LPI flattop checkering has mullered borders. Matching splinter forend has Anson release, with “J.D & S Patent” and use number “171” on iron. Bore diameter: left -.728, right -.729. Bore restrictions: left -.032, right -.007. Wall thickness: left -.031, right -.028. Drop at heel: 2-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-3/4″. Weight: 8 lbs. 8.6 oz, LOP 14-3/4″. PROVENANCE: Factory records indicate this gun was made for W. R. Cochran Patrick, and was re-barreled by Dickson in 2001 with 28″ bbls, half and full choke. CONDITION: Fine, as refurbished. Bbls retain virtually all of London quality black. Action is coin finished, with a few areas darkening. Engraving on bbls, safety button, and trigger guard has been re-cut. Newer stocks retain virtually all of hand rubbed oil finish. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Bores are excellent. 4-39357 (10,500-15,500)
