Wood & Son oil bottle. CONDITION: Very fine as restored. Bbls retain most of a rust-blue. Engraving and file cutting of rib are slightly washed. Action and locks retain nearly all of nicely colored re-color hardening, with some striations showing on action, and engraving is somewhat softened. Wood is somewhat under metal, and retains most of an old rubbed oil finish, with numerous light marks and scratches from handling and use. Checkering is re-cut. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Gun has been professionally tightened by fitting of dovetailed piece of steel through hook, workman’s stamp “H” is on each side of front lump. Bores are very fine. Chambers have some pitting, and there are some rather deep pits toward muzzles. Fosbery rifling is very fine, relatively sharp. Case exterior has some cracks, and number of marks. Interior cloth is fine with some rubbed and compressed areas. Needs a bit of brushing and vacuuming. Accessories are good. Holland & Holland produced only about 1500 Paradox guns, and many have had rifling removed or altered. Finding good shootable examples is difficult. 4-40900 MGM144 (12,000-16,000)
