HOLLAND AND HOLLAND HAMMER DOUBLE RIFLE. SN 12060. Cal. 45 BPE. Rebounding locks. 26″ Dovetailed steel bbls are marked “Holland & Holland. 98 New Bond Street. London.” on the right bbl. and “Winners of all the “Field” Rifle trials. London.” on the left. Full length rib is file cut toward the breech w/ one standing and 3 folding leaf express sight, graduated from 50 – 400 yds. Longitudinally dovetailed bead front sight w/ flip-up night sight. Case hardened action has a Jones under lever, and side clips. Engraved w/ 50% nicely executed English scroll w/ “Charge 4 drms, Case 3-1/4 Ins.” on the left hand side. Peninsula back action locks are engraved “Holland” w/ sliding safeties. Flat faced serpentine hammers terminate in stylized dolphin heads. Trigger guard extends all the way to grip cap, and engraved w/ SN 12060. Top tang is extended into the comb. Well figured and streaked Circassian walnut full pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2″ over an oak butt, carved w/ letter “R”, which is installed in place of the rubber of a Silver’s type pad. Stock also features vacant silver oval, steel pistol grip cap, shadow line right handed cheek piece w/ Holland style checkering at 26 LPI w/ mullered borders. Splinter forend has an Anson release w/ checkering to match buttstock. Drop at heel: 2-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-3/4″. Weight: 8 lbs 8oz. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Collection. CONDITION: Good. Bbls retain 60-70% of old re-black w/ areas of pitting toward muzzle. Bores are good, a bit dark in the grooves, heavily frosted toward the breech. Action retains 90% of re-case color over considerable light pitting. Left hand safety is very high quality replacement. Buttstock retains 80 -90% of old re-finish w/ few deep nicks and dings. Checkering has been re-cut. Border of central diamond in forend has been cut quite deep. Action is tight. Right bbl slightly off face. Locks crisp. 4-35622 MGM73 (6,000-8,000)
