*SPECTACULAR CASED KURT JAEGER ENGRAVED & CARVED AYA CUSTOM GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET OWNED BY HARLEY J. EARL. Cal. 16 ga. SN 92160. Beautiful dbl with two sets of bbls, 25-1/2″ & 27-1/2″, with flat tapered matted ribs, sgl bead with maker’s name & address on bbls, dbl chopper lumps with third fastener, ejectors & gold plated Miller non-selective sgl trigger. The 25″ bbls have a gold “1” at end of rib & a gold “2” on 27″ bbls. Receiver & lockplates are coin finished & full coverage engraved with large vignettes of three ducks in a marsh scene on left side, two pheasants & a setter in a field scene on right side & two quail in a field scene on bottom. All the animals are in very highly detailed raised yellow gold. Left side receiver is engraved “KURT JAEGER, MAINZ” in a ribbon. Trigger guard has raised gold initials “HJE”. It is all surrounded by extremely fine masterfully executed foliate arabesque patterns with deep relief patterns over fences, side clips & top of receiver. Opening lever, top tang, trigger guard, forend iron & about 1-3/4″ over chambers are engraved to match. Mounted with beautiful honey & chocolate French walnut with carved & checkered schnable tipped forearm with horn inlay & a checkered & carved pistol grip stock with raised side panels having ebony teardrop inlays. It has an ebony grip cap with ivory spacer & ivory diamond inlay. It has a small European cheek piece and is 14-3/8″ over a Pachmayr waffle pad. Water table, bbl flats & bottom of lugs are beautifully jeweled. Accompanied by a beautiful, old, metal trunk case with gray felt lining compartmented for the three parts of the gun, a 3-pc wood & brass cleaning rod and another compartment for a box of shells & pair of snap caps. Lid has a 5″ x 2″ silver metal plate engraved “HARLEY J. EARL / CONONES DEMI-BLOC ESPECIAL BELLOTA DETROIT PALM BEACH”. It has its orig blue canvas & leather cover.

Harley J. Earl was for many years the premier automotive designer for General Motors, primarily in the Buick line. Accompanied by two heavy card weight 2002 posters advertising the Buick Regal & Park Avenue, each with a different quote from Harley Earl. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Bore restrictions: 25″ bbls: left – .030, right – .010, 27″ bbls: left – .034, right – .016. Wall thickness: 25″ bbls: left – .022, right – .029; 27″ bbls: left – .025, right – .033. Bore diameter: 25″ bbls: left – .627, right – .651; 27″ bbls: left – .622, right – .640. Weight with 25″ bbls: 6 lbs. 8 oz. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Bbls retain virtually all of their right original blue with minor light edge wear. Receiver & lockplates retain about all of their orig coin finish. Opening lever retains virtually all of its orig blue with trigger guard retaining about 50% orig blue. Wood is sound with minor handling & storage nicks & scratches and retains about all of a professionally restored oil finish. Ejectors on 27″ bbls are out of time, otherwise mechanics are fine with brilliant shiny bores. Case is equally fine. 4-55466 JR141 (12,500-17,500)
