ITHACA DOUBLE-DIAL HORTONS PATENT CALENDAR SHELF CLOCK. Circa 1870. Patented 1866, Ithaca Clock Co., Ithaca, New York. The walnut domed case applied with burled panels, the edges molded, the upper dial with Roman numeral chapter ring and time-and-strike apertures, above the secondary dial with 31-day outer ring and apertures for the day of the week and month of the year. The original dial face with the company logo above: “H.B. HORTONS PATENTS./April 18, 1865, and August 28, 1866./ITHACA CALENDAR CLOCK CO./ITHACA, N.Y.”. SIZE: 25″ h. x 11-1/2″ w. x 4-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine southern Maine collection. CONDITION: With original dry finish and surfaces. The clock with original finial. Faces and works missing one top pediment (see photo). Both dials original, upper dial needs resurfacing. Otherwise very good. 9-93938 (800-1,200)
