Spectacular box lock Merkel with 27-9/16″ superposed bbls choked FULL/IMP-MOD with solid rib, sgl bead, dbl Greener crossbolt bbl extensions, ejectors, dbl lump & dbl triggers with front trigger articulated. Bbls are dated “9 54”. Boxlock receiver has the typical Merkel scalloped back edge & has full coverage fabulous Germanic engraving consisting of full game scene on each side with a silver setter & two silver pheasant on left side, three silver ducks on right side & a silver hare on bottom. All surrounded by full coverage oak leaf & acorn pattern engraving. Forend iron & about 3″ up bbl & bbl lugs are engraved to match. Opening lever & both tangs are also engraved to match. Trigger bow is inlaid in silver with name “R.E. McNETT”. Mounted with beautiful tiger striped walnut with full deep-relief carved oak leaf patterns with stippled background. Wrist is carved to match & the stock 14-1/8″ over a checkered hard rubber buttplate. Stock & bbls have sling swivels. Drop at the heel: 2-9/16″, drop at the comb: 1-9/16″. Bore restrictions: top – .040, bottom – .036. Wall thickness: top – .037, bottom – .035. Bore diameter: top – .679, bottom – .680. Weight: 6 lbs. 8.96 oz. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine. As new, appears to be unfired. Retains virtually all of its orig factory finish to both metal & wood.
