BALLARD CIVIL WAR CARBINE. Cal. 54. 22″ rnd bbl. Marked “BALLARD’S PATENT / NOV 5. 1861” on the right side of the action and “MERWIN. & BRAY / AGT’S. N.Y. / 963” on the left side. The number 64 is stamped on the bottom of the receiver. This is the early type without the duplex hammer. CONDITION: 90% thinning blue on the bbl, scattered finish mostly interior on the breechblock.
