FRANKLIN DULLIN BRISCOE (American, 1844-1903) WASHED ASHORE-AFTER THE STORM. Large oil on canvas coastal scene shows a large two-mast fishing boat on dry land with several figures aside. What appears to be a rudder is seen in the foreground and other men are knee deep in the water. Beyond the boat is a mountain cliff shoreline with point of land having large multi-tiered building. The sun shines through a golden sky. Signed lower right “F D Briscoe, 1873″. Housed in its original impressive gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 20″ x 36”.
