PATRICK HENNESSY (Irish, 1915-1980) STILL LIFE WITH BROCADE AND APPLES. Oil on canvas Housed in period frame Signed “Hennessy”, lower right Fragmentary label fixed on verso Widely considered one of Ireland’s finest realist painters, Hennessey was born in Cork and raised and initially trained (on Scholarships at the Dundee College of Art) in Scotland. Other scholarships allowed his to study in Paris and Rome as well. His work was exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and was extensively featured in exhibitions at the Royal Hibernian Academy. His paintings are included in numerous public and private collections including the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin. SIZE: 32″ x 23″. Overall: 43″ x 35″.
