*SUBLIME BOSS 20 BORE OVER-UNDER SINGLE TRIGGER EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH CASE. SN 8998. (ca. 1954) Cal. 20 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 26″ Barrels with narrow matted raised ventilated rib are engraved “Boss & Co 41 Albemarle Street Piccadilly London. Made in England” on left side of top bbl. Bottom of bottom bbl has SN. Right side of top bbl and bottom flat have London nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers at .615. Case hardened and beautifully filed action features bushed strikers, single selective trigger with selector on left lockplate, single beaded trigger guard, and automatic safety with “SAFE” inlaid in gold. Action and lockplates have approx 70% coverage of well executed English scroll and bouquet engraving. Sides of action are engraved “Patent 3307-1909” referring to Boss’s over-under patent. Lockplates are engraved “Boss & Co”. Left lockplate has checkered trigger selector with “U” and “O” inlaid in gold. Trigger plate in front of trigger guard is marked “Boss Patent No.11278″ referring to the single trigger. Trigger guard has matching scroll and SN at grip. Dark, nicely marbled and figured straight grip European walnut buttstock measures 14-3/8” over checkered wood butt, and features 22 LPI point pattern checkering with mullered borders, drop points, and gold oval on toe line with initials “GRR”. A very pleasing sweep to toe line, adds to the grace of this fine little gun. One piece matching forend with typical Boss ejector bolsters, has Anson release. Bore diameter: top – .614, bottom -.614. Bore restrictions: top -.008, bottom -.014. Wall thickness: top -.038, bottom -.040. Drop at heel: 2-5/8″, drop at comb: 1-7/16″. Weight: 5 lbs. 11 oz, LOP 14-3/8″. Oak and leather case has brass corners and push button latch. Top is embossed in black letters “Guido R. Rahr.” “Manitowoc, Wisconsin.” Interior is lined in purple cloth with Boss label. Accessories include S. J. Carr & Co. marked oil bottle, Parker Hale case extractor, snap caps, Boss and Co marked can of rangoon oil, Boss bench cloth, and the key. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 85% original blue, thinning at sides in front of forend, and silvered at muzzles. Action retains 40-50% original case color, considerably silvered at bottom. Lockplates retain 50-60% case color, silvered at fronts, and at rear of right lockplate. Trigger guard and top lever retain most of their original blue, top lever silvered at thumbpiece, and guard at bead and grip. Stocks retain most of their original rubbed oil finish with numerous minor marks and dings from use and handling. Checkering is slightly worn, and a bit dirty. Bores are excellent, bright and shiny. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Single trigger functional. Case is very fine with some minor scuffs to leather. Interior is fine, as are the accessories. This wonderful little gun is fresh from an estate collection, and would greatly profit from some very minor detailing. 4-39473 MGM7 (65,000-95,000)
