*FINE W. & C. SCOTT & SON DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 59379. Best quality sidelock dbl with 30-1/8″ Sir Joseph Whitworth fluid compressed steel bbls with tapered flat matted rib with sgl ivory bead, dbl lump with cross bolt rib extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. Bbls have 3″ chambers & the chamber end of rib is marked “SCOTT’S IMPROVED BOLT”. It has full sidelock receiver with about 80% coverage fine foliate arabesque pattern engraving with maker’s name on each lockplate. Opening lever, trigger guard & forend iron are engraved to match. Mounted with very nicely figured streaky French walnut with small checkered splinter forearm & straight stock with raised teardrop side panels, 14″ over an old collapsed red recoil pad. It has a blank silver initial plate on bottom. Accompanied by a brown leather leg-o-mutton case with “EDWARD J. RICE” embossed in gold on lid. Drop at heel: 2″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Bore restrictions: left – .030, right – .033. Wall thickness: left – .034, right – .035. Bore diameter: left – .704, right – .703. Weight: 7 lbs. 14.08 oz. CONDITION: Very fine plus. Bbls retain about 95% strong orig blue with some thinning over forearm area & a couple of minor scratches. Receiver & lockplates retain most of their orig case colors, strong & bright on lockplates & in sheltered areas of receiver, fading elsewhere. Trigger guard retains traces of orig blue. Wood is sound with minor nicks & scratches & retains generous amounts of orig oil finish showing moderate wear on checkering. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bores.
