AMERICAN EMPIRE ROSEWOOD SEWING STAND. Mid-19th century. Retaining original stenciled label “From C. Carpenter & Co. Furniture Makers, Jackson Miss” marked inside bottom of drawer. The rectangular hinged lid with concave molding opening to a compartmented interior, the lid mirrored, the frieze fitted with a single drawer, raised on a serpentine molded curule trestle base with shaped medial stretcher. SIZE: 30″ h. x 21-1/2″ w. 14″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Repaired and refinished, with damages to edges of lid and to end supports. 9-93517 (600-900)
