*SPECTACULAR CASED KARL HAUPTMANN OVER/UNDER SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET. Cal. 12 ga. SN 231390. Built on a Merkel action with 23-9/16″ bbls choked MOD/MOD and 30″ bbls choked FULL/FULL. Both have narrow ventilated ribs with dbl ivory beads with 3-pc forearm panels, gold-plated ejectors, dbl lumps with dbl Greener crossbolt extensions. Full sidelock receiver is coin finished & spectacularly deep relief engraved with full-panel vignettes consisting of two pheasants & two rabbits in a very detailed woodland scene on left side & a setter with seven quail in a field scene on right side. It has two flying ducks in a marsh scene on bottom, all surrounded by very fine, and very well executed foliate arabesque patterns. Receiver reinforcements and across top of receiver have very deep relief engraving patterns. Sides of receiver over top, opening lever, top tang & floorplate have gold wire borders. Trigger guard is engraved to match with a gold initial plate inscribed “AER”. Grip cap is also coin finished with deep relief vignette of an auerhaun in a tree. It has engraving patterns on each side of chamber area of bbls with a fine gold wire border around edges. Mounted with highly figured French walnut with fish scale & foliate arabesque pattern carved forearm & pistol grip with small European cheek piece, 14-1/4″ over an Old English pad. Accompanied by its orig oak & leather blue ultra suede lined trunk case compartmented for all the parts and a pair of nickeled snap caps. Drop at heel: 3″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Bore restrictions: 23″ bbls: top – .022, bottom – .018; 30″ bbls: top – .040, bottom – .039. Wall thickness: 23″ bbls: top – .020, bottom – .030; 30″ bbls: top – .018, bottom – .024. Bore diameter: 23″: top – .709, bottom – .711; 30″ bbls: top – .690, bottom – .691. Weight with 23″ bbls: 7 lbs. 2.56 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Retains virtually all of its orig factory finish to metal & wood with light edge wear at muzzles. Receiver retains virtually all of its orig coin finish & trigger guard about all of its bright orig blue. Wood is sound with minor nicks & scratches & retains virtually all of its orig oil finish.
