JOHN CHARLES MAGGS (1819-1996) WINTER EXCURSION. Oil on canvas winter scene shows a large stagecoach laden with people & luggage pulled by four horses. They travel a snow covered road with house & stone wall beside looking out over to a valley with large city. Signed lower left “J C Maggs 1873″. Housed in a gesso decorated frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 14-1/4″ x 17-1/4”. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Family, (F.W. Woolworth Department Store). CONDITION: Surface flaking across painting, surface dirt. 9-24669 (1,500-2,500)
