*WESTLEY RICHARDS BOX LOCK EJECTOR DOUBLE RIFLE. SN 4447. Cal. .470 Nitro Express. Double triggers. 26″ Steel dove-tailed shoe lump bbls have “Westley Richards & Co” inlaid in gold and a 4-folding, 1 standing gold lined express sight on the quarter rib w/ dolls head extension. The front sight is a stippled block w/ ivory bead and flip-up porcelain night bead. The top of the right bbl is engraved “Westley Richards & Co London.” “Cartridge 470 nitro express.” is on the left. Breech area of right bbl is lightly engraved in stylized script “Hanwant Singh”. Bbl flats are stamped w/ Birmingham nitro proofs, “470NE”, and “3510 BAR”. Bbls are also stamped “H.L” and SN “4447”. A sling eye is screwed to the bottom rib. The case hardened action is nicely engraved w/ about 50% coverage typical English scroll and has “Westley Richards” inlaid in gold in ribands on each side of the action. The top of the action in front of the typical Westley Richards lever and third fastener is inlaid “470 nitro express” in gold. “Safe” is inlaid in gold on a transversally dove-tailed steel rectangle in front of the non automatic safety button. Trigger guard is scroll engraved w/ SN “4447” inlaid in gold on the grip. The slightly streaked full pistol grip English walnut buttstock measures 15-1/8″ over a leather covered pad and features a sling eye and vacant gold oval on toe line, cheek piece for right handed shooter, engraved steel pistol grip cap, checkered side panels behind action, and 20 LPI checkering w/ mullered borders. The splinter forend has a Deeley and Edge release, horn tip, checkering and wood to match buttstock. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb:1-5/8″. Weight:10 lbs 14.4oz. CONDITION: Excellent as refurbished. This rifle has been gone through in a very meticulous manner w/ top quality (probably London) bluing, polishing, and case hardening of all metal parts. It looks as if it just left the shop. Bores are excellent. Action is tight and on face. Ejectors are in time. 4-35113 MGM31 (27,500-37,500)
