HORSE AND JOCKEY MARROTTE. Horse and jockey are mounted upon a wooden stick, which is also a whistle. When shaken, a life-like galloping appearance would transpire and the bellows (hidden under horse) would whinny, further enhancing the appeal of this most unusual marrotte. The rider with bisque head and glass eyes is fancifully dressed and the glass-eyed hide-covered horse’s torso and head still retain original trappings. SIZE: 15″ h. CONDITION: Overall very fine to near mint, minor paint loss to wooden legs of jockey, bellows inoperative. 1-8810 JL (1,000-1,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2008 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
