RARE RICHARDSON TRIAL CARBINE. Cal. 54 RF. 22-1/4″ rnd bbl. George Richardson was a partner in Richardson & Overman who produced the Gallager Carbines. He was issued a patent 23 August 1864 for this cartridge version. Note the pointed hammer which operates an internal firing pin and the separate latch at the rear of the lever. There are no marks on the carbine. CONDITION: Moderate to heavy pitting overall, possibly the result of the rust test at the trials. Brass buttplate is possibly a replacement. Mechanically fine.
