*JERRY FISHER EXPERIMENTAL TAKEDOWN FN CUSTOM RIFLE WITH DIES. SN 1206. Cal. .35 Apex. 20″ Round light weight bbl is fitted by Apex Rifle Co., has a single blade rear sight in sculpted base, band mounted sling eye, and Redfield banded ramp front sight w/ Sourdough bead, and is marked “350 Apex” on left. FN Mauser action has SN “1206” on left receiver ring and is fitted w/ modified Redfield mounts and rings w/ Lyman Alaskan 2-1/2 power scope. Bolt body is damascened. Bolt knob is nicely checkered. Modified Buehler type low scope safety w/ checkered thumb piece has also been fitted. Rifle features Jaeger trigger and steel drop box magazine to hold 5 rounds, w/ hinged floor plate, and button release. The finely shaped and finished American walnut stock measures 14-5/8″ over a “London Guns” red pad and features a steel grip cap and ebonite forend tip. Stock features Jerry Fisher’s experimental takedown system, consisting of 2 case hardened steel plates and straps w/ sliding button release to allow butt to be unscrewed from remainder of rifle. Mr. Fisher states that this is the only one of these that he ever made. Despite being made in 1965 the system still remains tight, and seems to work quite well. Mr. Fisher also states that he did all the work on this rifle, with the exception of the barrel fitting. Included is a set of RCBS dies for the .350 Apex. PROVENANCE: Consignors letter. CONDITION: Excellent. Metal retains all of its nicely polished rust blue finish w/ a few nicks and scratches on floor plate. Takedown system retains virtually all of its case colored finish. Stock retains 99% of its finish w/ one or 2 minor nicks from handling. Bore is excellent. Scope optics are clear, exterior shows silvering on edges. This would be a great little rifle for the traveling hunter, and this cataloger wonders why more rifles with this system weren’t made. 4-35589 MGM68 (3,000-5,000)
