*SCARCE J. P. SAUER MODEL 33 OVER-UNDER EJECTOR GUN WITH EXTRA BARRELS. SN 262569. Cal. 16 Ga. 2-1/2″ Chambers. (Extra bbls with SN 262574 have 2-3/4″ Chambers) 27-1/2″ Demi-block barrels with double Kersten extensions and matted solid ribs, are stamped “Krupp – Laufstahl” on right side of top bbl, and “J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Suhl” on left. Bottom bbl is stamped “Krupp – Laufstahl”, with SN, and eagle over M proof(Second set of bbls does not have this proof.) Rear portion of bbls have Sauer logo and nitro proofs for 2-1/2″ chambers with proof date of 9/40. Second set of bbls has re-proof for 70 mm chambers dated 7/42. Bottom of front lumps have Sauer caveman logo. Deep, rounded, scallop back Blitz action with non-automatic safety and double triggers has about 30% coverage of unusual large open scroll and floral motif engraving. “SSu” Sauer logo is on trigger plate. Plain European walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 14-5/16″ over ribbed composition buttplate with Sauer “SSu” logo, and features typical Germanic right hand cheekpiece, blued steel grip cap, and 20 LPI point pattern checkering with line border. Three piece forend has Deeley release, with SN on iron. Barrel set no. 1 Original: Bore diameter: top -.668, bottom -.667. Bore restrictions: top -.027, bottom -.011. Wall thickness: top -.040, bottom -.041. Drop at heel: 2-7/16″, drop at comb: 1-9/16″. Weight: 7 lbs. 2 oz, LOP 14-5/16″. Barrel set no. 2: Bore diameter: top -.669, bottom -.668. Bore restrictions: top -.025, bottom -.021. Wall thickness: top -.035, bottom -.043. Weight: 7 lbs. 2 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain about 80% of their original blue. Extra bbls show considerable light pinprick pitting. Action has traces of original case color in protected areas, but is mostly silver, and slightly frosted to gray. Stocks have most of an old refinish, with numerous marks and nicks. Sling loop on buttstock is missing. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are out of time. Forend is extremely tight with extra set of bbls. Bores are very fine with some slight pitting in top bbl of original set, and toward breech end of top bbl of extra set. 4-39724 MGM108 (3,500-5,000)
