TIFFANY STUDIOS 9TH CENTURY POSTAGE SCALE. Having bands of carved ornaments and deeply cut strap work, this pattern is one of the most elaborate of all Tiffany Studios desk set patterns. 9th Century design usually has grotesque animals associated with them. Tiffany Studios used creative licensing and used art deco looking animals such as a squirrel featured on this scale. Further accenting this piece are eight jewels of green and blue glass. Scale is finished with an elaborate top disk and Crescent front. Signed “Tiffany Studios New York 1627″. SIZE: 3″ x 3″ x 1-1/2”. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with wear commensurate with age. 5-62554 (1,500-2,000)
