*PRE-WAR GEBRUDER MERKEL OVER AND UNDER SHOTGUN. SN 20490. Cal. 16ga. 27-1/2″ bbls. Solid, tapered, matte rib with sgl brass sighting bead. Imp.Cyl/Mod chokes, 2-9/16″ chambers, ejectors and dbl triggers. Sides of each bbl have bouquet of floral scroll and left side Gebruder Merkel/Suhl. The scalloped boxlock action is game scene engraved on left with two ducks in flight in marsh scene and rooster and hen pheasant on right. Bottom of receiver in an arc, Suhler Waffenwerk/D.R.P./Gebruder Merkel, Suhl. Balance of receiver has floral bouquets and foliate, arabesque scrolls. Mounted in nicely figured walnut; horned trigger guard; checkered, pistol grip with horn sculpted grip cap; left side cheek piece; checkered horn buttplate; gold oval engraved TCF/JR; 3/4″ fixed swing swivel; checkered three piece, splintered forearm and bbl mounted 3/4″ fixed swing swivel. Bore diameter: top -.678, bottom -.678. Bore restrictions: top -.023, bottom -.015. Wall thickness: top -.030, bottom -.037. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Weight:5 lbs. 15oz. LOP 14-1/4″. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain most of its orig blue finish with some minor muzzle wear and a couple normal, minor nicks and scratches. Receiver retains 60% orig case colors, stronger in protected areas, with balance thinning and blending with a silver patina. Horn trigger guard is solid with just a few minor nicks. Stock is sound with tiny hairline crack behind top tang. Sharp checkering with just a few minor flattened points. A few small handling marks and retains an orig oil finish. Forend is sound, sharp checkering with a few flat points and a couple minor nicks and dings and retains an orig oil finish.
