*OUTSTANDING PREWAR WINCHESTER MODEL 70 BOLT ACTION RIFLE. SN 38865. Cal. 270 WCF. 24″ rnd bbl with integral stippled ramp, ivory bead front sight with hood, slot blank in rear sight boss & Lyman 48 receiver sight. Prewar receiver with drilled front bridge with filler screws & undrilled rear bridge with stripper clip slot cut. Prewar bolt with matching etched SN & 90-degree prewar safety. Mounted with select grade American walnut with usual checkered forend, checkered pistol grip, straight comb, steel checkered butt plate & factory installed closed-loop swivels. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl & receiver retain 97-98% orig factory rust blue. Bolt handle retains 95% orig rust blue, with very minor area of wear thinning to silver. Trigger guard has flaked & is mostly a mixture of traces of orig blue with brown patina. Floor plate has nearly all of a very fine professional restored blue. Wood is sound & orig with only minor nicks & dings and hairline crack behind cloverleaf tang; may have had light coat of finish added years & years ago; very good fine prewar checkering.
