UNIDENTIFIED BREECHLOADING RIFLE. SN: NSN. Cal 58. 31” rnd bbl. No markings. Stock and mountings appear to be from a Model 1841 Mississippi rifle, except the stock has been cut for a back action lockplate and been filled. Action features a breechblock which pivots upward. Gun is fired from an open bolt. Ramrod is replaced. Rear sight is bent. CONDITION: Gray patina mixed with light to moderate pitting. Large chunk of wood is missing at the rear of the action and another crack goes forward about 5” from this opening. Mechanically functional. 4-58262 FS9 (1,000-1,500)
