LARGE HOME MADE FEDERAL STYLE DOLLS’ HOUSE. Circa 1900. This is a large dolls’ house, painted a light blue with white trim. There is a fine pillared front entrance with a balcony above. The windows move up and down, the front opens in three sections to reveal spacious rooms. The facade has an appeal with its balustrade on the roof that encircles the house on three sides. In the center of the balustrade is a solid piece of wood with raised decoration. There are four windows on the front of the house, one on each level beside the main entrance and one on each side of the balcony which is over the main entrance. (There were once windows on the sides of the house but they have been covered with wood. Window trim on these windows is still in place) The front door is mahogany and has a lock and key that can lock the middle section of the house (The other two sections can be locked from inside which would be done before locking the center section). The interior of the house has 2 large rooms and a hall on each of the two levels with a great mahogany staircase. There are fireplaces in each room and a large open cupboard in the kitchen. All the rooms have crown molding, base boards and mahogany stained floors. SIZE: 43″ t x 53″ w x 21″ d. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Geraldine Gaba, Scottsdale, AZ. CONDITION: The exterior of the house is repainted and the interior does not have original wallpapers. The tin or metal fireplaces are antique (with a different style in each room) and the mantles have all been constructed recently along with wood they are mounted on.
