GRIFFIN AND HOWE SHELHAMER STOCKED CUSTOM MINIATURE FRASER 22 HORNET RIFLE WITH SCOPE. SN 1503. Cal. 22 Hornet. 24″ Barrel has stippled top quarter rib w/ inset G and H scope mounts and single folding gold line express sight for 100 yds. Band sling loop and banded stippled ramp front sight w/ sourdough bead is engraved “NO. 2037 Griffin & Howe, Inc. New York”. Bbl is mounted in miniature rook rifle size Daniel Fraser dropping block action w/ safety mounted in front of trigger and pin type take down system. Action is profusely engraved w/ Fraser shaded scroll w/ SN “1503” on trigger guard. Nicely marbled full pistol grip French walnut buttstock measures 14″ over a Neidner checkered steel butt plate w/ shadow line roll over cheek piece, horn grip cap, and “chin strap” grip to butt transition, typical of work by Thomas Shelhamer. (T. Shelhamer is stamped under butt plate w/ his work number “1063” penciled in.) Checkering is 26 LPI w/ single line border and wraps over top of grip and is beautifully executed. Schnable forend is attached to bbl w/ screw, and has wraparound checkering to match buttstock. Lyman All Weather Alaskan 2-1/2 Power SCOPE is mounted in 2 pc Griffin and Howe rings, front ring stamped w/ no. “2037.” Weight w/ scope: 7 lbs 3oz. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Collection. CONDITION: Excellent. Metal retains virtually all of its blue. Stocks retain nearly all orig finish w/ few nicks and dings from handling. Bore is excellent. Scope is excellent w/ clear optics.
