RARE SCHOENHUT ST. CLAIR DAIRY CO. MILK WAGON. During the 1920s and early 1930s the famed Schoenhut Toy Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, produced several different milk and bread wagons. Surely some of these were direct special orders, such as the Western Maryland Dairy Wagon and, more than likely, this particular example. It is believed that the St. Clair Dairy was in the Illinois area and to date this is the only known example of this milk wagon! Similar in nature & design to one of the Alderney’s versions and the Western Maryland version, the only difference being the graphics. Basically in untouched, as-found condition, this wagon is complete with driver, milk crate, and a brown horse (lacking some of original leather trappings). A unique opportunity to purchase a rare and desirable milk wagon produced by the Schoenhut firm. SIZE: 23″ l. of wagon. CONDITION: Basically in untouched, as-found condition; wagon shafts appear to be repainted or possibly replaced, driver lacking hat/cap. 1-8907 JL (4,500-6,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2008 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
