*BROWNING FACTORY CUSTOM D4 QUALITY SUPERLITE SUPERPOSED SHOTGUN. SN 2685V72. Cal. 20ga, 26-1/2″ bbls, hand-filed tapered vent rib, single silver sighting bead, IMP.CYL/FULL choke, 2-3/4″ chambers, ejectors and dbl triggers. Left side of bbl is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q. / MADE IN BELGIUM”. Right side “BROWNING SUPERPOSED / SPECIAL STEEL 20GA. SHELLS – 2-3/4″ / BROWNING PATENTS”. The rounded Superlite frame is engraved with English scroll and some geometric borders with portrait pointer head carrying rooster pheasant out of a bush and grassy background on left side. Right side pointer on point with 3 flushing quail in grassy setting. Bottom has 2 ducks taking flight out of marsh grass with trees in background. Trigger bow is engraved with English scroll and intertwined gold letters “PEV”. This wonderful engraving is signed on lower left side below dog “VRANCKEN”. Mounted with stunning, highly figured walnut, side panels with tear drop points, wrap-over checkered swan-belly straight grip with chain link border, skip-line diamond checkered butt, fully checkered wrap-around schnable forend with chain link border. Browning could provide no record for this gun. Bore diameter: top -.622, bottom -.622. Bore restrictions: top -.025, bottom -.007. Wall thickness: top -.036, bottom -.036. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Weight: 5lbs. 13oz. LOP 14-7/8″. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 90% orig blue with muzzle wear, some spots that are thinning, normal nicks & scratches and rub mark from forend. The coin finish receiver is clean and bright. Stock is sound with sharp checkering, some normal nicks & dings and retains an orig hand-rubbed oil finish blending with some hand-worn patina. Forearm is sound with sharp checkering, some minor handling marks and retains orig hand-rubbed oil finish blending with some hand-worn patina.
