REMINGTON FE GRADE DBL BBL DAMASCUS SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 109060. Beautiful early high grade damascus shotgun with 28” bbls choked CYL/IMP CYL, with matted tapered rib bearing the maker’s name & address. It has ejectors & DBL triggers and moderately figured slab sawn wood with checkered splinter forearm and Prince of Wales grip stock with checkered side panels, 14” over a Remington logo hard rubber butt plate. The boxlock receiver is wonderfully engraved with about 90% coverage extremely fine arabesque patterns with two pointers on the left side, two setters on the right side, a woodcock on the floorplate, and a pheasant on the trigger bow. Each side of the receiver has an elliptical panel with the company name and “A. Appleyard”. The fences are matching engraved with scalloped & shaded patterns, the serial number on the bottom tang is engraved, the forend iron is engraved to match the receiver. Weight 7 lbs. 8.2 oz. Drop at the heel 3”, at the comb 1-5/8”. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbls retain about 90% strong blue/gray pattern. Receiver & trigger guard are silvered case hardening with some colors remaining under the lever. Water table on the receiver & bbls and inside the forend iron are electric pencil etched with a Social Security number. Wood is sound and retains about 70% original varnish.
