*SCARCE ITHACA GRADE 5E DBL BBL SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET. Cal. 12 ga. SN 467661. NID model with 30″ & 32″ vent rib bbls with dbl ivory beads, crossbolt rib extension with ejectors & Miller non-selective sgl trigger. The 30″ bbls are choked IMP-MOD/IMP-CYL and 32″ bbls are choked FULL/MOD. Receiver is beautifully engraved with very detailed gold duck on left side & a gold pheasant on right side with coarse foliate & floral patterns at back edge & scattered patterns elsewhere. Fences are diamond & dot engraved with a matted top. Trigger guard, forend iron & 1-1/2″ over chambers on 30″ bbls and 1-1/4″ over chambers on 32″ bbls with patterns on both sides of muzzle engraved to match. Mounted with highly figured sunburst American walnut with long checkered beavertail forearm & Monte Carlo pistol grip stock with scalloped carved & checkered raised side panels with fleur-de-lis carved & checkered wrist, 14-1/4″ over a White Line pad. The 30″ bbls are marked “ITHACA GUN CO.” over right chamber with address over left chamber & appear to be original set of bbls. The 32″ bbls are marked “SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH FLUID STEEL” over both chambers and appear to be a later addition as the engraving patterns over chambers are much finer. Accompanied by an orig black leatherette covered olive fleece lined orig Ithaca case with compartments for three sets of bbls & stocked receiver. There is a blank gold initial oval on bottom. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Bore restrictions: 30″ bbls: left – .034, right – .009; 32″ bbls: left – .042, right – .040. Wall thickness: 30″ bbls: left – .027, right – .027; 32″ bbls: left – .025, right – .018. Bore diameter: 30″ bbls: left – .701, right – .736; 32″ bbls: left – .693, right – .706. Weight with 30″ bbls: 8 lbs. 12.16 oz. CONDITION: Overall very fine. 32″ bbls retain virtually all of their bright orig blue with no discernible flaws. 30″ bbls retain 85-90% restored finish with some thinning overall. Receiver retains virtually all of an extremely fine Turnbull quality restored finish with brilliant case colors, slightly thinned on bottom front. Trigger guard retains most of a restored finish. Stock has a hairline on each side back of receiver and a couple of small hairlines back of top tang with small chips & retains most of a professionally restored finish with some cracking in buttstock finish. Ejectors on 32″ bbls are a little soft, otherwise mechanics are fine with brilliant shiny bores. Case is fine. 4-55505 JR153 (4,000-7,000)
