RARE BUFFALO BILL WILD WEST POCKET WATCH. Size 16, stem wind, stem set, open face, pocket watch by “C.H. MEYLAN”. It has sunk second bit with 60 second dial, and appears to be at least 17 jewels and possibly up to 21 jewels. It has a dbl back cover with inside marked “14K”. A Google search on Mr. Hutchinson disclosed that in about 1894 he went to work for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West and became the manager in 1898 and remained in that capacity until at least 1902. Prior to 1894 Mr. Hutchinson had been the manager of the Adam Forepaugh Show as Mr. Bailey’s personal representative. Mr. Hutchinson was a nephew of James A. Bailey, of Bailey & Cole Show which became Barnum & Bailey, and his full name is Frederick Bailey Hutchinson. He later became Managing Co-director of the Barnum & Bailey Circus. CONDITION: Very fine. The dial has a tiny chip around the second bit, otherwise is clean & clear. Case is fine & tight, showing light wear. Seems to run very well.
