Spectacular highest grade Ithaca made with 32″ vent rib bbls choked FULL/FULL with dbl ivory beads, ejectors & gold plated sgl selective trigger. Receiver is wonderfully engraved with vignettes of a pointer on left side, setter on right side, a large mallard duck on bottom & a mermaid on trigger bow, all in exquisitely detailed very high raised gold. This appears to be work of Gough but is unsigned. Balance of receiver, trigger guard & forend iron has full coverage very fine & elaborate foliate arabesque scrolls. Vignettes all have a fine stippled background. Engraving patterns extend 1-3/8″ over chambers & 7/8″ at each side of muzzle. Mounted with extremely beautiful, highly figured, orig American walnut with Ithaca’s trademark tapered checkered beavertail forearm with scalloped edges & a black insert. It has a semi-pistol grip Monte Carlo stock with carved & checkered, scalloped, raised side panels, 14″ over an orig Ithaca red waffle pad. Grip cap is polished horn & it has a large blank gold shield on bottom of stock. Accompanied by a fabulous Huey oak & leather green suede lined trunk case with orig dark green & leather canvas cover. Drop at heel: 2″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″, drop at rear of comb: 1-1/2″. Bore restrictions: left – .034, right – .034. Wall thickness: left – .032, right – .029. Bore diameter: left – .694, right – .697. Weight: 8 lbs. 7.36 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains all of an exceptionally fine professionally restored finish to both metal & wood. So fine in fact, that it must be examined very closely to determine that it is, in fact, a restored finish. Bbls have slight muzzle edge wear & a small area of pitting over left chamber area. Case colors on receiver & opening lever are brilliant & are difficult to distinguish from orig, probably by Turnbull. Wood is sound with a minor handling & storage nick. Left ejector is a little late, otherwise mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bores. A truly spectacular Ithaca, suitable for anyone’s collection. 4-55504 JR157 (12,500-17,500)
