LARGE KINKOZAN VASE. Circa late 19th Century. Signed “Kinkozan”. The large oviform vase is decorated in various colored enamels and gilt with butterflies amongst sprays of peony on a paling gilt and buff color ground, the foot and shoulder with a band of ho-o birds amongst scrolling foliage, gilt rim. SIZE: 21″ h. PROVENANCE: Private collection of Dr. & Mrs. Winfield Gibbs, Sunbury, PA.; Purchased from Christie’s New York, Fine Japanese and Works of Art, 10/8/88, Lot 691.
