SPECTACULAR NEAR MINT LEFEVER “C” GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 10 ga. SN 9868. Near mint, possibly unfired “C’ grade Lefever with 32” fine Damascus bbls with checkerboard pattern, hand matted, tapered concave rib with single bead, dbl triggers and extractors. It has highly figured French walnut wood, with horn tipped splinter forearm and checkered semi-pistol grip stock with teardrop side panels, 14” over a checkered horn buttplate. It has hard rubber grip cap and silver initial plate on the bottom. The receiver has arrowhead, arcade fences and engraved arrowhead pattern on the dolls head extension. The lockplates have gold plated cock indicators and are beautifully engraved with vignettes of a spaniel retrieving a duck on the left side and a bird dog on the right side. It has light border patterns and fine scattered scroll engraving patterns. The Westley Richards style opening lever is also nicely engraved, as is the pushbutton forearm release. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Possibly unfired retaining virtually all of its beautiful brown Damascus pattern on the bbls. Receiver retains virtually all of its original case colors, slightly faded on the top and a little more on the bottom, brilliant in sheltered areas. The lockplates retain virtually all of their brilliant case colors. The bottom of the receiver has three or four small speckles of rust. The wood is sound and retains virtually all of its bright original hand rubbed finish with minor nicks and handling marks. Brilliant shiny bores.4-51365 JR (6,500-8,500)
