*MANNLICHER SCHOENAUER MODEL 1903 CARBINE. SN 16175. Cal. 6.5×54 MS. 18″ Round bbl was one standing, 1 folding rear sight mounted in a banded block, ramp front sight, dove-tailed silver bead, is marked w/ SN “16175” and Vienna nitro proofs. Stippled top of action is marked “Made in Austria”, “Patent”, “Mannlicher Schoenauer”, and “M.1903”. Left side is stamped “Oesterr. Waffenfabr. – Ges. Steyr” and has double set triggers. Butter knife handled bolt has matching SN and is fitted w/ a transversally dove-tailed Lyman cocking piece peep sight. Steel capped full length European walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/8″ over a ribbed steel trap butt plate w/ 3-pc steel cleaning rod and space for 2 spare cartridges underneath, features sling loops, w/ older unmarked leather sling, steel grip cap, and 22 LPI checkering w/ double line borders. Included is a set of RCBS group D dies. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl and action retain 85-90% blue, thinning on edges. Bolt stop retains 60% bright blue. Stocks retain most of their varnish finish w/ many handling dings, dents, and numerous scratches on left side near action. Bore is strong, shiny w/ some slight pitting and erosion in throat. 4-35588 MGM65 (2,000-3,000)
