The letter has a typographical error in the inspection start & completion dates. A re-check of Cody Firearms Museum records in Nov. 2005 revealed that this shotgun was shipped in May 1947, and that it was made for “P. J. O’Hare” of famous target rifle sights, covers and shooting equipment. Maj. Hession was an active target shooter and Winchester employee. It stands to reason that he had this shotgun made for Mr. O’Hare.
