*EXTREMELY RARE JOHN M. OLIN PRESENTATION WINCHESTER MODEL 21 DBL BBL SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET. Cal. 32 ga. & 410. SN W33861. Spectacular & rare, special order, Grand American, small frame, flat side, rnd action ’21’ with 26″ 32 ga. bbls & 28″ 410 bbls, both with tapered ventilated ribs, red ivory Bradley front beads, ejectors & gold plated sgl selective trigger. Ribs have “CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER” in gold & bbl inscription is also in gold on both sets. Bbls also have a wide gold band at each chamber end & a narrow gold band at each muzzle end. Receiver is spectacularly engraved in typical Grand American patterns with a very highly detailed raised gold setter on left side, a beautiful raised gold pointer on right side & two very detailed raised gold pheasants on floorplate. Trigger bow has a very detailed raised gold spaniel’s head. Fences have deep relief engraved oak leaves & acorns and serial number on top tang is in raised gold with “SAFE” in gold. There is about 3/4″ of engraving on side of muzzles & a small flourish at muzzle end of bottom rib. Water table & 410 bbl flats have lightning cuts. Mounted in presentation quality flame grain American walnut with two black-insert, “21-B” carved beavertail forearms with pistol grip stock, 14-1/4″ over a checkered butt. Grip cap has a gold wire border with center gold plate inscribed “PRESENTED / TO / JOHN / M. / OLIN”. Bottom of stock has a blank oval gold initial plate. Accompanied by orig manufacturing order dated “9 26 60”. Under special instructions it states: “GUN TO BE MADE FOR J M OLIN” & “SPECIAL ATTENTION TO BE PAID TO DETAILS AND WORKMANSHIP”. Under the “SOLD TO” block it states “OLIN MATHIESON CHEM CORP / A/C J M OLIN / EAST ALTON, ILL / ATT: C R DUCKELS”. Under the “SHIP TO” block it states “TO BE PRESENTED TO J M OLIN”. There are five sheets in this order giving complete specifications for this shotgun including “ALL FIGURES RAISED GOLD AND FINELY DETAILED”, “INTERCHANGEABLE BBLS EXPERIMENTAL 32 GA.”, & “WOOD MEDIUM COLOR – FULLY FIGURED ON BOTH SIDES / HAND RUBBED POLISH FINISH”. Also accompanied by a chocolate brown maroon felt lined trunk case. Drop at heel: 2″, drop at comb: 1-1/8″. Unable to measure bore restrictions or wall thickness. Bore diameter: 410: left – .389, right – .400; 32 ga.: left – .476, right – .485. Weight w/32 ga. bbls: 7 lbs. 3.84 oz. A review of the records of the Cody Firearms Museum disclosed no information regarding this shotgun. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine. As new, probably unfired. Retains virtually all of its orig factory finish to both metal & wood with no discernible flaws. The case is equally new. 4-55551 JR132 (35,000-50,000)
