*RARE B. WINKLER MAUSER ACTION CUSTOM ENGRAVED BOLT ACTION RIFLE. SN F6194. Cal. 30-06. Spectacular custom rifle with 21″ oct bbl with full length,tapered, matted rib, ramp front sight with partridge style German silver blade and maker’s name & caliber in panels on rib. Fixed rear sight is dovetailed into rib & has a gold outline rear face. Mounted in spectacular hand selected exhibition quality Circassian walnut that consignor personally chose for this rifle. It has a full length, 2-pc forestock with ebony schnable tip & ebony insert at joint. Forestock & grip area are beautifully checkered in about 24-lines per inch with an oval ebony grip cap. Left side of butt has a fluted European style cheekpiece with a toe trap having recesses for three cartridges and is 14-1/2″ over a thin Decelerator pad. Receiver & bbl area over chamber have bases for the Bock return to zero twist off mounts containing a Zeiss Diavari VM 3-12X-56T scope with 3-post & dual crosshair reticle. Bolt is fitted with a custom shroud & thumb safety with a beautiful sculpted adjustable trigger & a spoon handle bolt with checkered panel on bottom side. Receiver, bolt handle, bolt shroud, cut-off, trigger guard & floorplate and toe trap have full coverage, extraordinary, intertwined, foliate arabesque pattern engraving with fine gold wire border inlays. Toe trap does not have the inlays. Floorplate also has an extremely beautiful, with fabulous detail, vignette of a bugling bull elk in a forested scene. Small area over chamber & front scope block, along with front sight, are also beautifully engraved. Rear face of rear sight is stippled. Bolt body is jeweled & extractor polished bright. Receiver, bolt handle, bolt shroud, cut-off, trigger guard & floorplate, toe trap & sling swivels are all French gray finished. This engraving was done by the famous European engraver, Martin Strolz. Mr. Strolz is an Austrian, only thirty years old, with sixteen years training & experience having trained & taught at some of Austria’s & Germany’s most famous engraving schools. He also has done work for most of Austria’s & some of Germany’s finest gun makers as well as private commissions. His work has been published in a large variety of European & American publications. Accompanied by a copy of letter from Mr. Strolz to the consignor dated 2002 and a CD of Mr. Strolz’ work. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine, appears to be unfired since engraving, retains virtually all of its fine orig custom finish to both metal & wood with one small rub on left side of stock.
