*EXCEPTIONAL FRANZ SODIA DBL RIFLE TWO BBL SET. Cal. 270/270 and 20 ga./20 ga. SN 24790. Wonderful combination gun built on a Merkel typeaction with 25-3/4” superposed rifle bbls with pedestal caterpillar front sight, one standing blade rear sight and claw mounts on the full length top rib. Shotgun bbls are 27” with ventilated rib and ivory bead choked IMP CYL/CYL. Both bbls have dbl lump with dbl bite bbl extensions, ejectors and dbl triggers. It is mounted in a coin finish scalloped box lock action with wonderful deep relief vignettes of a stag & hind on the left side, a setter and pheasant on the right side and a woodcock on the bottom. All surrounded with full coverage very fine intertwined foliate arabesque patterns. The trigger guard and forend iron are engraved to match. The trigger bow has gold inlaid initials of intertwined “S”’s. It has sling swivel studs on the rifle bbl & stock, but not on the shotgun bbls. It is mounted in very nicely figured walnut with skip line checkered 3-pc forearms and pistol grip stock, 14” over its original white-line recoil pad. Accompanied by its original green canvas & leather, green felt lined trunk case and a Swarovski 4X scope in claw mounts. CONDITION: Extremely fine, has been hunted, but retains most of its original factory finish to both metal & wood. Stock has a series of small scratches on the right side and the forearm a small gouge on the bottom. Brilliant shiny bores, fine optics, fine case.
