AMERICAN ROCOCO CARVED ROSEWOOD CENTER TABLE. Circa 1865. The shaped white marble “turtle back” top with beveled edge fitted to the conforming rosewood veneered frieze having applied floral cartouche scrolled carvings joined to the shaped vasiform standard, raised on four solid rosewood outswept, scrolled, acanthus-carved legs surmounted by stylized dolphin heads; the scrolled feet raised on brass casters. SIZE: 29-3/4″ h. x 38-1/4″ l. x 27″ w. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: The original marble top with minor chips beneath corner edge and one-inch chip beneath center of long edge. The base with original old chocolate brown surfaces. One leg with repaired crack at juncture to pedestal, one leg with slight hairline beneath dolphin head. Otherwise very good overall. 9-93515 (2,000-4,000)
