*RARE CASED WINCHESTER MODEL 21 SKEET GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN, 3-BBL SET. Cal. 20 ga., 28 ga. & 410. SN 21967. Built on a 20 ga. step-side receiver with lightning cuts in the water table & bbl flats of 410 bbls. Floorplate is marked “SKEET”. It has three sets of 28″ bbls, all choked WS1/WS2. All three have dbl beads, ejectors & it has a blued sgl selective trigger. Receiver has after-market, rather crude engraving of a cross between 21-4 and 21-5 patterns consisting of a pheasant on left side, a grouse on right side & a pointer on bottom with light foliate arabesque & border patterns surrounding. Trigger guard has a small vignette of a pointer & bbls have about 1″ patterns at chamber ends. Water table, standing breech, bbl flats, and lugs, breech faces of bbls, forend lugs & forend irons are all beautifully jeweled. Fitted with very highly figured center crotch cut flame grain American walnut replacement buttstock with three orig black insert deluxe checkered beavertail forearms. Buttstock has deluxe pattern checkering with checkered side panels & is 14″ over a checkered butt. Accompanied by two pages of orig manufacturing order identifying this shotgun as having originally been manufactured June 6, 1949 as a 20 ga. SKEET grade gun. It was returned in 1960 for additional 28 ga. & 410 bbls with forearms for Howard K. Slater. Also accompanied by a Galazan style brown leather covered maroon felt lined trunk case compartmented for stocked receiver, three sets of bbls, three sets of snap caps, a square oil bottle, 2-pc ebony cleaning rod & tools. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Bore restrictions: 20 ga.: left – .011, right – .003; 28 ga.: left – .011, right – .007; unable to gage 410. Wall thickness: 20 ga.: left – .033, right – .029; unable to gage. 28 ga. & 410. Bore diameter: 20 ga.: left – .605, right – .623; 28 ga. left – .546, right – .549; 410: left – .403, right – .413. Weight: 6 lbs. 7.36 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains virtually all of a very fine professional custom finish to both metal & wood. Bbl & receiver blue is strong & bright in near orig color. Wood is sound with one or two tiny handling & storage marks. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores. Case is as new. 4-55549 JR170 (5,000-8,000)
