PURDEY ROOK RIFLE WITH 2ND BARREL. . SN 11782. Cal. 25-20, and 310. 25-20 Ovate bbl measures 25-3/4″ w/ matted top engraved “James Purdey & Sons – 57-58 S. Audley St. London” w/ one standing, 2 folding express rear, and high longitudinally dovetailed front. Right side has Birmingham proofs and “250”, left is engraved “Ammunition 25/20”. Round 310 bbl has a Greener patent flip up ladder sight adjustable for windage and a high front sight transversally dovetailed through block and has same engraving as other bbl, except it states “Ammunition – 310”. Martini action is nicely engraved w/ large open shaded scroll w/ SN “11782” on top of tang and has take down lever on left front part of action. Nicely streaked straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/4″ over a ribbed horn butt plate, w/ 22 LPI checkering w/ mullered borders. Both forends have horn tips, sling eyes, and checkering to match buttstock. Weight w/ 25-20 bbl: 4 lbs 2 oz. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Collection. CONDITION: Both barrels show virtually all of re-blue. Action retains 60-70% orig charcoal blue. Stocks retain most of oil refinish. 25-20 Bore is excellent. 310 Bore is also excellent. 4-35679 MGM117 (2,500-4,000)
