S J REMINGTON (American, 19th Century) PARTICIPATING IN NATURE’S SPLENDOR. Large oil on canvas landscape scene shows a lake with mountains having the near shore with rocks, flowers and grasses leading to a man with fishing pole in small boat. A storm has left the area and the sun shines brightly through the decreasing clouds. A mist covers the left mountains and lake and birds fly over the trees toward the opening blue sky. Signed lower right “S J Remington”. Little is known about this artist who worked in California. Housed in a modern antique style frame. SIZE: 30″ x 46″. CONDITION: Two small patches and large patch on reverse, old restoration with inpainting. 9-98929 (1,000-2,000)
