SCARCE SMITH & WESSON HOLSTER FOR A NEW MODEL NO. 3 AUSTRALIAN CONTRACT SHOULDER STOCK. Scarce accessory for the Australian Contract revolvers, of which there were only 250 manufactured for the Australian Colonial Police in 1880. Made of russet brown leather, 13-1/2” long x 4-1/2” wide x about 1-1/2” thick with a flap top with slot for brass stud. Left edge has two slots for saddle straps and a D-ring in back. Inside top, under the flap, are the Australian markings “36” and a broad arrow. CONDITION: Fine. Leather is soft & supple with some crackling on bend of flap and body of holster with horse sweat stains on back and light to moderate soil.
