IMPORTANT ROCOCO REVIVAL ROSEWOOD CANOPY BED, ATTRIBUTED TO PRUDENT MALLARD. Circa 1850. The cyma molded canopy crest above the conforming frieze mounted with a pleated fabric liner gathered at the center, joined to faceted octagonal posts. The headboard with three arched molded panels surmounted by a C-scrolled leaftip triple crest, centering an additional arched molded panel joined to the headposts on hooks, the siderails and footboard conforming, all applied with leaftip scrolled returns. The posts terminating in molded octagonal plinths. SIZE: OVERALL to molding: 9’2-1/2″ h. To top of canopy: 9’7″ h. EXTERIOR: 7’4″ x 66-1/2″. INTERIOR: 6’9″ X 60″. CANOPY: 88-1/2″ x 69″. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Bed has been professionally cleaned and repolished. Each post mounted with a two-inch extension, the canopy equally extended at the headboard to accommodate a queen-size boxspring and mattress. Extensions extremely well done. 9-93524 (15,000-25,000)
