SPECTACULAR FOX MODEL DE SPECIAL GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN 2 BBL SET. Cal. 16 ga. SN 301158. Connecticut Shotgun Co. built Fox with 28” & 30” bbls both with forearm, concave, tapered, matted ribs with dbl ivory beads, crossbolt rib extensions, ejectors and dbl triggers. The 28″ bbls are choked IMPMOD/MOD & the 30″ bbls are choked FULL/FULL. Bbls have engraved inscription “KRUPP FLUID STEEL MADE BY” on the right bbls and “A.H. FOX GUN CO. PHILA. PA.” on the left bbls. It is mounted with exceptionally fine, highly figured, marble cake Circassian walnut with checkered splinter forearms that have black insert & straight stock with checkered raised teardrop side panels 14-3/8″ over a checkered buttplate with heel and toeplates. Receiver opening lever, top tang, trigger guard & about 2” up the bbls are fully & elaborately engraved with foliate, floral & vine patterns with fine stippled background. The fences are deep relief engraved with oak leaf & acorn pattern. Both sides of receiver have elliptical vignettes of raised gold setters with fine stippled background. Bottom of receiver has a raised gold flying partridge with woodland background. Trigger guard has a raised gold flying pigeon and opening lever pivot a raised gold flower blossom. Top tang has “SAFE” in gold & bottom tang has the serial number in gold. Breech end of bbls have a fine gold wire border & there is a narrow zig zag band of gold on the ribs. Heel & toe plates are engraved to match. Accompanied by a green canvas & leather, green felt lined trunk case compartmented for all the pcs of the gun, 2 snap caps & a 3-pc brass and ebony cleaning rod. Drop at heel: 3-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Bore restrictions: 28″ bbls: left – .016, right -.008. 30″ bbls: left – .027, right – .025. Wall thickness: 28″ bbls, left – .040, right – .035. 30″ bbls: left – .045, right – .044. Bore diameter: 28″ bbls left – .640, right – .656. 30″ bbls: left – .630, right – .632. Weight with 28″ bbls: 6 lbs 9.28 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine. As new. Retains virtually all of its beautiful factory finish to metal & wood. May have been fired but if so, very little. 28″ bbls have light muzzle edge wear with 30″ bbls having no discernable flaws. Receiver case colors are brilliant. Wood is sound with 2 or 3 small creases on the left side and 1 or 2 on the right side of the butt and overall retains virtually all of its orig factory finish. Ejectors on 28″ bbls are out of time and ejectors on 30″ bbls are very weak with left one almost non-functional, otherwise mechanics are fine. Brilliant shiny bores.
